The Bank of Elk River proudly celebrates a remarkable milestone as LeRoy Lindenfelser, the Chief Financial Officer (CFO), marks his 30th anniversary with the institution on June 27.
LeRoy’s journey with The Bank of Elk River began in 1994 when he joined as a consumer lender for the yet-to-be-built Otsego branch. His dedication and expertise led him to the Main Street branch in 1998 as a commercial lender and assistant CFO. Climbing the ranks with his unwavering commitment, LeRoy assumed the role of CFO in September 2007, a position he has adeptly held to this day.
“I was grateful as a young professional that the bank saw potential in me and supported my goals of furthering my education by attaining a Master’s degree,” Lindenfelser expressed. “Bank leadership’s focus on learning and development for its employees is one of the things that I love about the culture here.”
As a lender, LeRoy understood businesses and could relate to customers’ needs and aspirations—this made him a customer favorite. As CFO, LeRoy has guided the bank through challenging times with a steady hand and exceptionally sound judgment. His contributions have been pivotal to the bank’s resilience and growth over the years. In 2019, LeRoy was named CFO of the Year—a testament to his ongoing influence on the bank’s success.
When asked about his long-standing service, LeRoy reminisced, “When I first started, I remember asking Pat Dwyer and Jim Simpson about their tenure. Hearing of their 30+ years of service seemed like an eternity, but here I am, celebrating the same.”
Over the years, LeRoy has been an integral part of numerous bank programs and committees, including the marketing committee, funds management committee, loan committee, and Employee Stock Ownership Program. Additionally, he sits on the board of directors for the bank’s holding company, Metro North Bancshares.
Beyond his financial expertise, LeRoy is deeply rooted in the community. His involvement with the Elk River and I94 chambers, the City of Otsego Economic Advisory Committee, and local sports associations, along with his contributions to St. Michael Catholic Church, exemplify his commitment to community service.
“LeRoy’s 30-year tenure is a testament to his profound influence and integrity, resonating in both his thoughtful decisions and his purposeful actions. His contributions transcend the typical role of a CFO; he is an integral member of our work family, a true expert in his field, and a leader whose opinion is invaluable to me and the board of directors,” said John Babcock, president/CEO/chairman of The Bank of Elk River. “On behalf of The Bank of Elk River and the Babcock family, I extend our deepest gratitude. Thank you, LeRoy, for your unwavering commitment over the last 30 years!”
