Bank of Elk River Mourns the Loss of Jim Babcock

With heartfelt sympathy, we share that Jim (James) Babcock passed away on Monday, September 25, 2023, at his home in Elk River. Husband to Marisela and father to Edmund Babcock, Jim was also the beloved brother of his siblings John Babcock, Catherine Babcock(deceased), Anne Hollowed, Elizabeth Babcock, and Marcia Montgomery.

Jim was actively engaged in The Bank of Elk River for many years. During college, Jim worked part-time in bank operations, handling statements, filing checks, and assisting with bookkeeping responsibilities. In 1987, Jim joined The Bank of Elk River full-time and, in 1990, became a consumer loan officer. In 2000, Jim moved to the School Street branch as its consumer and real estate lender, working there until his retirement in 2011. Jim also served on The Bank of Elk River's Board of Directors from 1994 to 2011 and Metro North Bancshares, Inc.'s Board of Directors from 2001 to 2011.

Jim was well known for his kind, compassionate nature at work and in the community. He actively volunteered his time and talents with the Elk River Rotary, whose mission is to serve others. Jim received the Rotary's Paul Harris Fellow Award for his outstanding efforts.

Jim was deeply committed to The Bank of Elk River, its employees, and customers. Please join us in keeping the Babcock family in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
